Book Bench

This old doll bench was a thrifty find at a local flea market about six months ago. It was a bit crooked and strange, but I fell in love. My gardening books fit perfect.

Pearl the Owl ®

This is Pearl. There will be a story added to her later. She is my new friend. Perhaps she will show up in my Etsy shop after the Labor Day Flea Market in Hillsville, VA where she and a "flock" of her friends will be making their debut. All my birds will be a gentle reminder of godly principles. Pearl, is a bird of wisdom. Hence the name.

She is fashioned of left over fabric from my home made kitchen curtains and an old pair of my middle daughter Abbey's  outgrown Union Bay corduroys. Vintage buttons are her eyes, and eventually she will don a simple set of pearls.

Fickle Me

As I was scrolling through my recent entries I realized how absolutely bored I was with the green china cupboard. So I moved it into the kitchen after adding a yellow ochre stain and decided to give my tired old china to Mom, replacing it with a few simple pieces instead.

Rule Number One for Faux Finished Walls

Never, ever and I mean N-E-V-E-R put wall stickers on a faux finished wall. The day you get bored with butterflies... you WILL have white spots where the stickers used to be (sigh).

Old Cupboard Re-Do

This is a vintage Broyhill china cabinet. I removed the glass and doors and painted it cream and washed it with a light green overlay.I removed the old drawer pulls and tied white lace ribbon to the drawer.

My Country Singer

I found an antique sewing machine base in the woods at our old house near the lake. I couldn't think of what to do with it, but I knew I'd better hang onto it just in case. The renters who lived in the home we bought here in the mountains left behind the glass table top and I couldn't resist. I spray painted the sewing machine black and happened upon some rubber stoppers at the local Mom and Pop shop (Tilley's Grocery) for twenty five cents a piece. One day project.

Obtained this metal planter while moving a friend and the old bowl was sitting around the house. The planter was used for a while as a chandelier shade, but as I move my pretties around quite a bit I now have an odd centerpiece.

Vintage Boudior Lamp

This is a lamp I picked up in Lexington, NC about six years ago. It once had a companion but it got broken during the move. Made shabby elegant with items found around the house...
